Moon Over Glen Lake by Sue Woodward
This year we had the Fred Boal family from Scotland and Ireland over to Glen Lake Cottages for two weeks.  Fred and his family have vacationed up here years ago, and came back for a family vacation.  His daughter Kathy wrote this poem about Glen Lake several years back and gave us a copy upon leaving.  What a gracious family and thank you for the beautiful plant.  We enjoyed having you all here and thank you for being such wonderful renters!  We can hardly wait to visit you in Scotland and Ireland!  And, those kids were great boat drivers!

A Glen Lake Moon by Kathy Boal Apsley 1980

The moon she sits
Avobe Alligator Hill
Resting peacefully there
Until dawn will show her face

The lake so calm and still
Reflects the path
Of moonlight, shimmering
From one shore to the other

And cozy little cottages
Just like our pink one
With its comforting light
Are dotted all around the shore

I wonder where
The swans are now
That dusk has quickly fallen
And the night air has cooled

The big white rowing boat
Tugs gently at her anchor
As if to be quite sure
That darkness won't sweep her away

The soft eveing breeze
Comes in a whisper
From Lake Michigan
Soaring silently like a bird

Sleeping Bear
She watches over us

Barren, covered with endless foot prints
Finally able to rest her weary head
And join the moon in sleep
